A handfasting in an ancient ritual where a couple’s hands are bound together to symbolise unity on a physical and spiritual realm. The binding rope is made from colours chosen by the couple which represent their values and beliefs. A beautiful part of a wedding which dates back to Pre-Christian history and often associated with Celtic traditions.
A handfasting alone is not officially recognised in Australia, unless conducted by an authorised Civil Celebrant, adhering to the formal monitum and vows according to the Marriage Act of 1961,
I offer the advantage of being able to conduct and officiate Commonwealth recognised marriage in Australia and conduct the handfasting as one.
